The company now has a 91% recycling rate for its copiers after Anne Mulcahy spread her vision to reduce waste and make copier parts more reusable. If more companies, especially electronics manufacturers, thought more about a cradle-to-cradle strategy for their products it would cut millions of tons of e-waste a year. That would mean less toxins leaking into the water supply at home and abroad.
I think of all the great innovators- Apple should step up to the challenge next. Just imagine how many millions of first and second generation iPhones are going to end up in landfills overseas. Not so sleek anymore.
