I’ve taken my own leap into the world of self-employment this month on a mission to pursue a life more aligned with my passions. It’s a product of personal choice and not job scarcity but it’s the same school of thought.
The article points out “And more than any previous generation, people in their 20s today have a new attitude toward entrepreneurship. Namely, is it riskier than entrusting your career to a corporation? ”
I’m a huge advocate for women entrepreneurs and after years of tracking Fortune, Barron’s, and Fast Company’s ranking of top companies and CEOs there is always a shortage of women. I want to be a CEO one day. Given my plans to one day start a family, it is risker for me to stay working for someone else if I’m ever going to reach my goal to run my own company.
Realization of what I want to do, incredible support from family, friends and mentors and years of financial planning have afforded me the courage to make the leap to self-employment. I don’t expect it to be easy, but it’s one step closer to making my dreams come true.
Starting your own business? Agree there’s a shortage of women CEOs? Let me know!
